The Great Wave off Noise
(2024)
"AI images, whatever they pretend to show, are ultimately images of images, perhaps even images about images." Roland Meyer
The generation of images with AI embodies the symptoms of our constantly remixed images economy. By trying to reveal the nature of this new medium, a kind of "collage 2.0", the visual inflation we are witnessing - both as spectators and actors - is unravelling before our very eyes, through this meta-synthography approach.
I then started to create variations, and variations of these variations. The original message and meaning is progressivly lost in this process, by adding Noise. Adding Noise as the Shannon-Weaver model coins it. Adding Noise as being part of the prompt. And adding Noise through the inner working of Generative AI.
